This exciting community event celebrates and supports AEF’s commitment to teachers, staff and students in the Arlington Public Schools.  All proceeds will go directly to fund grants that support public education in Arlington.

Geyer: 'Very excited'

“We are very excited to be hosting the first 5K race,” said Judy Geyer, president of the Arlington Education Foundation. “It supports the important grant making work AEF does to support creativity and innovation by Arlington educators throughout the year.”

Close to 600 runners and walkers, many of them members of elementary and middle school running groups, will make their way along a beautiful race course that highlights some of Arlington’s most familiar and historic sites.

The race will begin and end at Hills Hill field, next to the Ed Burns Arena.

Runners and walkers will follow the Minuteman Bikeway, west toward Arlington Center, then turn onto Water Street, then onto Mass. Ave., where they will run toward Lowell Street before turning onto Mill Lane and Frazer Street, running past the historic Schwamb Mill, and back onto the bikeway for a fun finish onto Hills Hill field.

During the race, the bikeway and a portion of Mass. Ave. will be closed to cars and pedestrians, and the public’s cooperation during the brief closures will keep everyone safe.

Registration for the race costs $40, and it will be run rain or shine. Although the live race event is at full capacity, there are still ways to support AEF’s mission.  To enter the race as a Virtual Runner, or to volunteer on race day, please visit www.aefma.org/events/arlington-5k-run

The Arlington Education Foundation, a local nonprofit 501(c)(3), is committed to enhancing public education, through grants for innovative classroom programs and district-wide initiatives. For more information on AEF and its grants, visit www.aefma.org
