Concert series held at Whittemore Park this summer

Whittemore Park concerts 2022

UPDATED Aug. 3: Free outdoor summer concerts at Whittemore Park, hosted by the Arlington Chamber of Commerce, conclude at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 3, with Foxtet, as town resident jazz musician Dan Fox leads his band.

The Foxtet in an evening of jazz standards. The group will feature Buddy Rich Band alum Jeff Stout on trumpet; stellar vocalist Deb Larkin; Tony Bennett’s guitarist Gray Sargent; plus Arnie Krakowsky on sax, Steve Langone on drums, and Fox on bass and trombone.

Previously postponed by the pandemic and other factors, summer-evening music returns to the park in front of the Cyrus Dallin Art Museum at Mass. Ave. and Mystic.

The concerts are set to take place on four consecutive Wednesday evenings. The series kicked off with the Soft Touch Dance Band, a classic big band. The full horn and rhythm sections specialize in swing-era music from the 1940s to the 1960s, plus Broadway hits and classic rock favorites.

The presenting sponsor is McDonald Contracting. Additional support is provided by Watertown Savings Bank, Arlington Jazz and Arlington Tourism and Economic Development Committee.
