UPDATED: All in Arlington were invited to meet the new town manager, Jim Feeney, between 4 and 5:30 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 14, outdoors, in the Town Hall Gardens, next to Town Hall, 700 Mass Ave. An estimated 50 people did.

This event was hosted by the Select Board, and light refreshments were served.

Feeney became town manager Aug. 1 after serving as the town’s deputy manager for operations since July 2021. 

From September 2019 to June 2021, Feeney was the interim facilities director, and he oversaw building projects and also developed and implemented pandemic response strategies in schools and public buildings.

Before that, Feeney served as Arlington’s assistant town manager and as such was in charge of community relations, capital project management and Community Preservation Act-funded projects. He has also served as the town’s public records access officer, health compliance officer, acting director of health and human services, and interim director of recreation.

Feeney has a bachelor'sdegree in health science and a master’s degree in epidemiology from Boston University. 

In April, the Select Board unanimously named Feeney as Arlington’s next town manager, to succeed Sandy Pooler, who retired in July.

Feeney's annual salary is $225,000, with 5-percent deferred compensation, 24 vacation days and use of a town vehicle and a town-issued cell phone, Caryn Malloy, town personnel director, reported April 17.
