Regent seeks $50K, asks you to appeal to Congress
UPDATED, July 8: The Regent Theatre has provided the following announcement:
These have been trying times for everyone, and your continued support of the Regent means so much to us.
We’re a part of the National Independent Venue Association (NIVA), which was formed to try to save independent venues and promoters across the country. We were the first to close and will be the last to fully reopen.
Without support from Congress, 90 percent of NIVA’s independent venues, festivals and promoters across America say they will be forced to close their doors forever. Congress will be voting this month, so we need your help now.
Without inclusion in the next stimulus bill, this might be the last chance for your favorite independent venues, festivals and promoters. Tell your reps that life support for independent venues and promoters must be included.
Even if you’ve written once, please make your voices heard now, it’s quick, easy and free. Ask your legislators to support and cosponsor S. 3814/H.R. 7481, the RESTART Act, introduced by Senators Young and Bennet in the Senate and Representatives Golden and Kelly in the House, which would ensure the survival of independent venues, festivals and promoters across the nation.

Leland & All of Your Friends at "Arlington's Show Place of Entertainment"
On Friday the 13th in March, we had to suddenly shut our our doors as we prepared to host the Sold-Out "25 Anniversary of On a Winter's Night" (now rescheduled for Feb. 6, 2021). After the initial shock of closing down and having to postpone or cancel dozens of shows, we regrouped to focus on staying connected to our audience and our community while preparing to reopen deliberately yet vibrantly when it is safe to do so.
To that end, we are launching our GoFundMe Campaign along with plenty of newly adapted content:
- We're going virtual, with a new online screening engagement of "Dosed"
- A virtual screening of "WBCN: An American Revolution."
- We are reinventing our "Regent TV" variety show beginning TONIGHT at 7pm on LIVE on our Facebook Page...
- Oh, and don't forget the "2020 A-Town Teen Video Festival & Awards" next Tuesday, May 19th
- A full schedule of other events--virtual and otherwise--to be announced soon.
We welcome your feedback and appreciate your support during this crazy, trying time for us all.
Take Care and Hang in there with Us!
