Arlington Education Foundation draws record business support

Thirty-six business sponsors are supporting the Arlington Education Foundation (AEF) this year with $23,250 in funding for the local nonprofit.

Sixteen of these sponsors are first-time partners, contributing to a 28-percent increase in AEF’s program for business sponsors, record-setting support for the organization.

The funds will directly enhance AEF’s ability to fulfill its ongoing mission of supporting and advancing public education in the Arlington Public Schools.

“I am thrilled to see the local business community recognize the importance of our work,” said Ann Pirone, president of AEF. “Their partnership with AEF is a testament to their commitment to keep our schools and our community strong.”

During the 2017-18 school year, AEF awarded more than $168,000 in grants to support innovative teaching in the classroom, continuing education for teachers and systemwide initiatives. That includes the recently launched multiyear Safe and Supportive Schools project, which supports the district’s mental-health initiative.

AEF’s 2018 business sponsors include:

Platinum ($5,000) -- Arlington Orthodontics, Belmont Orthodontics & Belmont Pediatric Dentistry

Gold ($1,500) -- Villandry Contracting, Zipwall Dust Barrier Systems

Silver ($500) -- Brookline Bank, Carney General Contracting, East Cambridge Savings Bank, Leader Bank, NA, McLean Hospital, Mirak Automotive Group, Quad Cycles, Running Brook Camps, Watertown Savings Bank

Igoe d/b/a Ameriprise Financial Services, Inc., Nitwits Intelligent Lice Treatment, Old New England Properties, RE/Max Leading Edge, Red Door Design, Russian School of Math, Sidekick Sports Academy, SunBug Solar, UpBeat Cycling, Visual Government

The foundation awards more than $100,000 in grants to the Arlington Public Schools each year. In addition to Innovations in Education grants, AEF gives multiyear, large-scale grants to fund districtwide initiatives. Working with Arlington Public School administrators, AEF funds programs, professional development and projects that support and enrich the teaching and learning that occur in all of our schools. AEF relies solely on contributions from the community. The Arlington Education Foundation is committed to enhancing teaching and learning in all of Arlington’s public schools. Through charitable donations and business sponsorships, the foundation grants more than $100,000 annually. To learn more, visit
